According to the annual "Announcement of Major Construction Projects Planning" recently released by the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Zhongshan has been assigned 88 key provincial projects in 2019. These projects include the following: 6 province-level projects, with the total investment reaching 62.73 billion yuan and the annual planned investment reaching 5.72 billion yuan; 47 city-level projects, with the total investment reaching 132.01 billion yuan and the annual planned investment reaching 17.803 billion yuan; and 35 preparatory projects, with an estimated total investment reaching 101.53 billion yuan.

The 47 city-level projects include 10 infrastructure projects, 34 industrial projects and 3 people's livelihood projects. The high-profile new ferry terminal of Zhongshan Port in Ma'an Island is expected to be operational this year. The new ferry terminal contains 12 berths and has a large interior space of 40,000 square meters.

The 35 key provincial preparatory projects include 6 infrastructure projects, 23 industrial projects and 6 people's livelihood projects. According to the annual planning, the "Zhongshan Urban Railway Line 1" is considered an infrastructure project. It includes an underground track of 14.1 km, and its estimated total investment reaches 5.82 billion yuan.
