The Zhongshan Human Resources and Social Security Bureau released the "Monitoring Report of Human Resources Market Supply and Demand and Enterprise Employment in Zhongshan for the First Quarter" on Wednesday.
The report shows that, during the first quarter of this year, the city's labor demand reached 194,600, while the number of job applicants was 92,900. The overall employment gap has expanded.
There was a large demand for employees in manufacturing, accommodation and catering, and other industries. Specifically, the number of on demand laborers in the manufacturing industry was 131,195, which accounted for 67.4% of the total.
The top 10 jobs in short labor supply during the first quarter included production and transportation equipment operators, general workers, waiters, secretaries, clerks, sewing machine operators, engineers, lathe operators, designers, and plastics production workers.
The average monthly wages for general workers and technicians increased 9.04% and 1.5%, respectively. This was a rise to 3,427 yuan and 4,067 yuan, compared with last year's figures.
The wages for general workers rose due to a short supply. The average wage for general workers in the manufacturing industry was 3,468 yuan/month, up 8.38% compared with last year. The average wage of manufacturing technicians was 4,122 yuan/month, up 0.68% from last year.
Salaries in the service sector showed more significant growth. The average wage for service workers reached 3,167 yuan/month, which was an increase of 14.41% from the same period last year.
