Zhongshan Meteorological Bureau held the 2019 training class for meteorological coordinators and information officers on the morning of April 22.

According to the study of the bureau, the weather in the flood season this year will remain complex and variable. During that time, the temperature will be comparatively high. As predicted, precipitation in the pre-flood season (April-June) will witness 10% to 20% decrease while that in the post-flood season (July-September) will rise 5% to 15%. It is highly possible that rainfall will be heavy around the Dragon Boat Festival.

Besides, the city's precipitation time will unevenly distribute in the flood season. Droughts and floods will coexist, which means we may witness a sharp changes between drought and flood. During the period with concentrated rainfall, flood may occur.

It is predicted that 3 to 4 typhoons may hit the city this year and 2 or 3 of them may land and incur serious impacts. As per the forecast made by the weather bureau, the first typhoon may come around in mid-June, and the last may take place in mid-to-late September.

It is learned that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the founding of the meteorological coordinator and information officer team in Zhongshan city. The team has served as an important force at the basic level for the city to guard against meteorological disasters.
