Changjiang Road's main line hopefully to open to Traffic on Oct 1

The project leader of the Changjiang Road renovation said on April 25 that they have almost completed the asphalt pavement of the Baishawan section. Presently, constructions of the key prats of the Changjiang Road renovation, such as the Sunzhong Tunnel, Kanghua Tunnel and Dongxiang Tunnel, are progressing as scheduled. The main line of the Changjiang Road is expected to open to traffic on October 1.

It is learned that the ramp bridge to the South Outer Ring and the flyover to the Bo'ai Road had been completed. Among the remaining 4 tunnels, the Qiwansha Tunnel has gone into operation since last year.

Amongst the other three tunnels, the Dongxiang Tunnel is currently 40% completed. Its main body is expected to be finished in September this year.

The Sunzhong Tunnel, which is known as the "longest tunnel in Zhongshan", has been 95% completed. Its main line is expected to open to traffic in August.

In addition, the Kanghua Tunnel has been 70% finished. Its main part is expected to reach completion by the end of July.

As of April this year, the Changjiang Road renovation has cost 976 million yuan, accounting for 76.3% of the total planned investment. Specifically, an amount of 839 million yuan was spent on constructions and installations, accounting for 73.6% of the total planned construction and installation fees.
