Citizens pay high attention to development opportunities brought by GBA Outline

The Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (referred to as the Outline) was officially published on February 18. Recently, the Zhongshan Investigation Team of the National Bureau of Statistics randomly interviewed 271 citizens. The results revealed that citizens in Zhongshan were highly concerned with the Outline and expected that Zhongshan would quickly blend into the development of the Greater Bay Area.

Based on the interview, more than 90% of the respondents were concerned with the Outline and over 80% said that they knew the contents. Regarding the objectives proposed in the Outline, 53.5% of the respondents said that they were very confident while 36.9% were confident.

Regarding the Outline contents which is related to Zhongshan, 74.9% of the respondents were mostly concerned with speeding up the construction of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge, followed by giving full play to its own advantages to deepen reform and innovation and strengthen the city's comprehensive strength (48.3%), and building and improving a flood (tide) control system to effectively address the urban water-logging problem (36.5%).

The respondents look forward to seeing the development opportunities the Outline will bring to Zhongshan, following its enactment and implementation. The respondents mentioned the benefits the Outline brought to the city, which include economic growth promotion (91.5%), city grade promotion (67.5%), cultural development promotion (54.6%), employment promotion (33.6%) and convenience for visiting Hong Kong and Macao (24.4%).

When asked which industries in Zhongshan would be benefited by the implementation of the Outline, most respondents mentioned tourism (56.5%), transportation (52.8%), manufacturing (52.0%), culture (50.6%), biomedical technology (39.1%) and logistics (19.6%).
