A broad range of popular tourism activities in Zhongshan were organized during the May Day holiday lasting from May 1 to 4. During the holiday, Zhongshan has seen a good and well-organized cultural and tourism market order.
According to the Zhongshan Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau, by May 4, Zhongshan's tourism income reached 410 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.8%. The city received 175,800 overnight tourists, up 3.21% year-on-year. The number of tourists visiting Zhongshan scenic spots was 659,000, up 20.63% year-on-year.
Short-distance leisure trips predominate the tourism market, with amusement park visiting, hiking and rural leisure tour still being tourists' first choice.
In addition to large-scale traditional scenic spots, parks, amusement areas in business districts and special agritainment places have attracted a large number of self-drive tourists, leading to a booming outskirt tourism market.
Tourism products were abundant, and various activities such as parent-child travel, leisure travel, and rural travel were organized among others. The characteristic tourism product based on "tourism plus" integrated development mode became the holiday highlight. Consequently, the economic benefits of tourism have significantly increased in Zhongshan.
