The launch meeting for the 5th "Little Migratory Bird" Summer Camp was held in Banfu Town a few days ago. More front-line migrant workers can sign up for their children, thanks to the new registration policy.
Since 2015, this non-profit summer camp has benefited over 1,700 "little migratory birds" nationwide, and was identified by All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) as an "ACFTU After-school Caring Program" early this year.
Registration will start in June. Banfu Federation of Trade Unions will send personnel to visit Guizhou in the near future to carry out relevant preparatory work.
The summer camp aims to improve the mental health of left-behind children through specifically-designed textbooks, 25 extracurricular programs, and psychological counseling rooms.
"The camp has been expanding and increasing its influence year by year, providing reunion opportunities for more 'little migratory birds' and their parents, which shows Zhongshan's humanistic care for migrant workers," said Meng Nian, a deputy to the People's Congress of Zhongshan.
