An inspection team led by Wang Guangya, Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress, made a research trip to Zhongshan on May 9 to investigate the protection of overseas Chinese rights and interests. Chen Xudong, Secretary of the Zhongshan Municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Zhongshan People's Congress, accompanied the investigation.
Wang Guangya first arrived at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Secondary School, visited the campus and school history exhibition hall, listened to the presentation of school development and operation achievements, and learned about the construction of facilities donated by overseas Chinese or Chinese organizations, such as the Jizhong Planetarium.
Afterwards, Wang Guangya went to Perfect (China) CO Ltd, visited the company's exhibition hall and the bulletin board announcing new economic and social organizations, and listened to the development demands of overseas Chinese ventures and suggestions regarding overseas Chinese affairs.
Wang Guangya remarked that overseas Chinese are an indispensable force to promote reforms and development in the new era and achieve the great rejuvenation of China. Guangdong is a major province with about 30 million overseas Chinese all over the world.
Departments in charge of overseas Chinese affairs in Guangdong at all levels should gather the wisdom of the vast number of overseas Chinese and their retuing relatives, and deeply participate in the "Belt and Road Initiative" and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development to better project China's image and promote trade between China and foreign countries, Wang Guangya added.
