The unveiling ceremony for the "National Earthquake Prevention and Disaster Reduction (EPDR) Science Model School" was held on May 10 at Guishan High School of Zhongshan.

Over 3,000 students had an emergency drill in the afternoon of the day.

Guishan High School has always attached importance to EPDR education. The school built an earthquake mass observation and prevention station in 1966, since when it has never stopped earthquake monitoring for 53 years. In January 2017, the observation station was upgraded to a "National Earthquake Intensity Rapid Report and Forewarning Terminal".

In October 2008, Guishan High School was identified as a "Guangdong EPDR Science Education Base" by the Earthquake Administration of Guangdong Province.

In May 2018, Zhongshan Earthquake Science Museum was built and put in use in the school .

In June 2018, the school was identified as a "Red Cross Life and Health Experience Base".
