New motorcycle policy to take effect in June
Updated: 2019-05-14    Source: Zhongshan Daily Large Medium Small Print

The Ministry of Public Security recently rolled out 10 new policy items in line with the "administration simplification, power decentralization and service optimization" reform. From June 1, 2019, newly-registered motorcycles will be exempted from annual inspection in the first six years. Owners can also take the motorcycle inspection anywhere nationwide.

According to the Zhongshan traffic police department, owners of newly-registered motorcycle (within the first six years) only need to receive a new inspection label in the second, fourth, and fifth year for their motorcycles instead of going through any inspection. For motorcycles with over six years' utilization, owners still have to take an annual inspection.

Besides, motorcycles are also exempted from environmental protection inspection in the first six years starting June 1.

Presently, Zhongshan has up to 302,000 local-licensed motorcycles.
