Longhuan Village, situated in the south suburb of Zhongshan, has a strong exotic atmosphere on May 12, as the first micro fund for rural revitalization in Zhongshan was initiated. The Longhuan Micro Fund for Rural Revitalization drew much attention and received donations from overseas Chinese, out-married female villagers, and youths who moved out for development.

The event kicked off at 9am, with various volunteer services from the Center of Youth-driven Social Innovation, social organization "Qingfeng Free Traveler", the Zhongshan Rural Commercial Bank, and the Longhuan Volunteer Team. The Longhuan Volunteer Team also made seasonal treats including deep-fried dumplings, Luanxi Cake and glutinous rice dumplings on the night before the event, which was sold to raise money for the lately-initiated micro fund.

The most astounding activity was the guided village tour. The delegation successively visited the Guanmendou, Shaba Pit, longan tree, pan tower, and Bamboo House among other scenic spots in Longhuan Village.

The Longhuan Micro Fund for Rural Revitalization is said to be under the direction and management of the Zhongshan Charity Association. The fund is the city's first community fund initiated and donated by villagers for the purpose of revitalizing urban villages. It will be primarily used to reinvigorate ancient buildings and sustain guided tour projects.

It is said that the fund, which started in trial a week before, has raised 26,298 yuan as of May 12.

"I hope the program can continue its operation with the aid of the charitable fund, and have these old stories of Longhuan village known by more people," said 77-year-old Bao Yongning, an overseas Chinese representing people from South District.
