The Ministry of Ecology and Environment a few days ago reported the national air quality in April and January-April period this year. Zhongshan's air quality ranked fourth among 168 key cities in April, listed among the national top 20 for three consecutive months. All the indexes were better than the same period last year. The city's air quality in January-April period ranked 15th nationwide.

According to the Zhongshan Ecology and Environment Bureau, the compliance rate of Zhongshan's air quality was 94.2% from January 1 to April 30 this year, which was on par with that of the same period last year. The compliance rate of Zhongshan's air quality was 96.7% from April 1 to 30 this year, which is 3.3% lower than that of April 2018.

An official representative of the Atmosphere and Climate Change Tackling Division of Zhongshan Ecology and Environment Bureau said that Zhongshan would launch the "Blue Sky Defense Battle" campaign from the prevention and control of industrial pollution, motor vehicle pollution and road dust. In terms of the industrial air pollution prevention and control, from January to April this year, Zhongshan has eliminated 7 high-pollution boilers and renovated a total of 241 biomass-fired boiler.
