Zhongshan Laboratory of the Guangdong Institute for Drug Control (GDIDC) was inaugurated on May 21.

It is reported that Zhongshan Laboratory will be responsible for inspecting drugs imported via Zhongshan, Zhuhai and other west Pearl River cities and providing technical services for entrusted drug inspection. Its operation will improve Zhongshan's capacity of drug inspection and testing, strengthen the city's drug safety regulation, and provide strong technical support to the overall enhancement of drug quality inspection as well as drug-related high quality development.

"Previously, inspection of drugs imported to Zhongshan have to be done in Guangzhou or Shenzhen or even Shanghai. But since the laboratory went operational, we can do the inspection 'at home'," said a staff member of Zhongshan Laboratory.
