First-tier technical experts of enterprises, scientific researchers and tertiary education teachers a few days ago gathered in the Shaxi Textile and Clothing School of Zhongshan Polytechnic to discuss the drafting of the two association standards for "Chinese Tunic Suit".

The two association standards, namely, the Manufacturing Code for Handmade Chinese Tunic Suit and the Technical Code for Industrialized Production of Chinese Tunic Suit, were drafted by the China National Analytical Center Zhongshan Textile Technology Research Center under the coordination of the Zhongshan Textile Engineering Society.

"Chinese Tunic Suit, created by Dr Sun Yat-sen, contains the Sun Yat-sen culture genes. It is ergonomically designed with distinctive three-dimensional tailoring techniques," said senior engineer Li Tian’en, the project leader for the two standards. 

Presently there are no national or industry standards for Chinese Tunic Suit in China. "In the future, plans would be made to develop professional skill standard for senior tailors of Chinese Tunic Suit among others, to build and improve the standard system of Chinese Tunic Suit and create an industrial 'name card', " Li added.

Huang Minghua, President of Zhongshan Textile Engineering Society, said that "Chinese Tunic Suit is a niche clothing, but formulating association standards for it will help inherit and carry forward the Sun Yat-sen culture". He hoped more enterprises could participate in the drafting and formulation of association standards, through which they could be more competitive and influential in the industry.
