The minimum basic pension for urban and rural residents will be paid in accordance with the new standard as of May, 2019. The pension reflects a raise from 148 yuan per person per month to 170 yuan. Additionally, the difference incurred from adjustments between January to April will be made up, according to the Zhongshan Human Resources and Social Security Bureau (HRSSB)

The minimum basic pension for urban and rural residents is paid in full by the government. As of January 1, 2019, the minimum standard of the basic pension for urban and rural residents across Guangdong Province was raised from 148 yuan per person per month to 170 yuan, up 14.9% from a year earlier. It benefits nearly 9.82 million elderly over the age of 60 living in Guangdong.

Since 2013, Zhongshan has continuously raised the minimum standard of the basic pension for urban and rural residents. After seven consecutive years of adjustments, the standard has increased from 55 yuan per person per month in 2012 to 170 yuan in 2019. These figures represent a total increase of 115 yuan, or 209%. 

According to HRSSB, the adjustment plan of the minimum basic pensions for Zhongshan enterprise workers is right around the corner.
