Qinjiang New Town 

The Zhongshan Municipal Natural Resources Administration recently publicized the Promotion Planning for Qijiang New Town of Zhongshan City (hereinafter referred to as Planning) on its official website. 

According to the Planning, Qijiang New Town will be constructed into the new central area of Zhongshan, serving as one of the two core regions of the city together with Tsuihang New District in the future. 

Qijiang New Town has a planned area of 33 square kilometers, covering East District, Shiqi District, Torch Development Zone and part of Gangkou Town, with the focus on the development of science and technology innovation industry for the purpose of creating the new downtown integrating industry, service, life, leisure, landscape and transportation. 

In the future, Qijiang New Town, centering on the headquarters economy zone, will develop into a new central area for Zhongshan, the HSR (high-speed rail) New Town of Zhongshan North Railway Station and the science, technology and innovation industry cluster in the north of Qijiang River. It will deploy the central business headquarters economy, TOD business, urban comprehensive service, university science and education park, innovative industrial park, cultural creative industrial park, cultural leisure tourism area and ecological living community and other major functional areas. 

According to the Planning, there will be a number of Zhongshan railway lines and metro lines passing through Qijiang New Town in the future. With the introduction of Guangzhou Metro Line 18 into Zhongshan station, Qijiang New Town will develop into the most heavily trafficked area in Zhongshan City. 

In addition, as the nesting zone of public service of Zhongshan, Qijiang New Town will also deploy the smart city management and operation center, science and art exhibition museum, cultural and art parks, citizen's fitness stadiums, waterfront sports parks, high-end general hospitals, international primary and secondary schools and other high-end service facilities in the future to create a new international central area in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
