Zhongshan's Promotion Meeting for Patriotic Health Campaign and Healthy City Construction was held on May 28. The meeting announced Zhongshan continued to hold "National Health City" title in 2018. An expert team from the School of Public Health, Sun Yat-sen University was invited to give a special report on the results of the healthy city baseline survey of Zhongshan.

Besides, a total 14 specialists and scholars including Hao Yuantao, Dean of the School of Public Health, SYSU, were hired as healthy city construction counselors by the municipal government.

At the meeting, Xu Xiaoli, Deputy Mayor and Director of the Zhongshan Patriotic Health Campaign Committee, pointed out that Zhongshan should widely carry out universal fitness campaign, and, by the end of this year, realize "15-minute fitness circle", with the per capita sports areas exceeding 2.6 square meters. 

The city should greatly improve its living condition and business environment. By the end of the year, the urban garbage classification coverage need to exceed 50%, while the decontamination rate of urban refuse have to stay at 100%. 

By 2020, Zhongshan should build at least 2 province-level model healthy towns and 6 six province-level model healthy villages (communities).
