Lovely "Duoduo Bear" and "Nana Bunny", flying butterflies, blooming flowers, lush grass as well as other vivid, poetic paintings on the walls make the wards warm and full of human kindness, and the little patients are willing to receive treatment.
Completed on June 1, the public welfare wall painting for the special pediatric wards in ZSPH was favored by many parents and children.
Early in October 2017, ZSPH started the renovation of its old outpatient building and renamed it the "Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce Building", of which the fourth floor is used as the special pediatric wards. Later in August 2018, ZSPH issued a wall painting solicitation to society. More than 40 benevolent and talented volunteer painters were recruited to paint the walls for the new wards.
In order to unleash the volunteer painters' creativity in a uniform style, chief creative volunteers Ruan Xiaoying, Xiao Ying and Xie Wenlong specially set the theme, "Four Seasons", for the wall painting of the three corridors in the new pediatric wards.
Ruan Xiaoying, an architectural design student who graduated from the University of Southern California last year, is now working for Zhongshan Architecture Design Institute. There was a story between her family and the hospital, which makes her took over this public welfare project. Her younger brother once stayed in the pediatric ICU due to serious illness. For this reason, Ruan and her family had developed a deep friendship with the medical workers over the past 9 years. To show her gratitude for the pediatric department, Ruan decided to use her expertise to create a warm atmosphere for the children's wards.
Among the volunteers there were ordinary workers, pupils, college students and kindergarten principals who love painting. They fully devoted themselves to this "love relay" with high enthusiasm, even in their rest days.
The paintings for the three corridors, covering over 1,100 square meters, came to completion in less than two months.
