Zhongshan Society of Environmental Sciences on June 3 held the opening ceremony of the 2019 Environmental Carnival for World Environment Day in the "Society · Space". It was also the opening of the "Society · Space" to the public for the first time. 

The "Society · Space", as the first public cultural service experience center for environmental protection in Zhongshan, was completed within one year. It covers an area of 350 square meters, and is divided into four parts: exhibition hall, experience area, training room and leisure area. 

The first exhibitions include "The Development of the Ecological Environment of Zhongshan City for the Past 40 Years since the Reform and Opening-up", "Zhongshan Ecological Map" and "The 11th Photo Exhibition for Environmental Protection Contest for Middle School Students from Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Yangjiang". 

Specifically, the "Zhongshan Ecological Map" is the first hand-drawn map with the theme of ecological environment in Zhongshan. This map details ecological environment resources, ecological landscapes and relevant public environmental protection facilities of each town and district. 

As of now, the infrastructure of the first phase of the "Society · Space" has been completed. The second phase will focus on creating immersive interactive experience scenarios, highlighting VR experience and multimedia interaction. It will equally provide diversified services and activities basing on academic exchange, science experience, and public welfare publicity. 

The award ceremony for the "Plastic-Banning Advocators" Youth Environmental Protection Public Action also featured at the opening ceremony, during which medals were awarded to merchants who reduced the use of disposable plastic straw.
