Xingzhong Avenue will be renovated and upgraded, with a focus on the five intersections with Sunwen East Road, Songyuan Road, Zhongshan Road, Tiyu Road and Bo'ai Road, according to the Zhongshan Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (ZSBHRD). After the renovation, it will witness a 30% higher traffic efficiency than now.

The renovation will be carried out in the second half of 2020, said Liu Yishen, an official representative of ZSBHRD. Xingzhong Avenue will be broadened 1 meter on each side by using the space of the current sidewalks, and transformed into two-way eight lanes at each intersection. Green wave control and left-turning forbiddance will be implemented during the peak hours, when spur roads will be used for detouring and lane-changing.

The intersection of Xingzhong Avenue and Bo'ai Road will be greatly improved based on the current traffic situation. The traffic island sidelines will be indented, the utilization rate of the north entrance will be raised, and new lanes will be added for alleviating the left-turn demand.
