Xingzhong Avenue and Bo'ai Road, the main roads constructed a long time ago in urban Zhongshan, are hindered by outdated illumination, unattractive green facilities, poor axis design, and characteristics that are lacking in Zhongshan culture.
In order to beautify the two roads, the Zhongshan Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development will begin a landscape upgrade at important sections along Xingzhong Avenue and Bo'ai Road. The theme is designed to create urban night landscapes with highlights and rich gradations.
"The construction is expected to begin in September, and the landscape upgrades along Xingzhong Avenue and Bo'ai Road are planned to be completed within half a year," said Liang Weijie, the project director from ZSBHRD.
He added that the landscape upgrade project mainly involves major buildings along Xingzhong Avenue (including 7 residential buildings and 44 public buildings), roadside landmarks (such as Sun Yat-sen Memorial Park, the Bo'ai Hospital buildings, the southern part of Zimaling Park), and important sections along Bo'ai Road (including tunnels, flyovers, entrances, highway exits and the Zhongshan Expo Center). This comprehensive project covers the illumination system, landscape architecture, pipeline network, dilatation and relocation of high-voltage cable facilities, and other installations.
The specific design scheme is based on Zhongshan's urban elements and industrial characteristics. This design will best reflect the local culture, while the current lighting system of buildings and roads will be improved upon and better utilized to reduce costs.
Moreover, priority should be given to advanced, energy-saving, and environmental electrical products. Illumination system for public use and public information dissemination should be set up in crowded areas. Specific illumination schemes for common days, holidays and the Spring Festival are also likely to be developed.
