The Sun's Ancestral Hall in Zuobu Village, Nanlang Town, with a collapsed roof due to the erosion by wind and rain, is hopefully to take on a completely new look. On June 12, a construction notice was erected in front of Sun’s Ancestral Hall, showing the restored appearance of it.
It is introduced that the Sun's Ancestral Hall, where Sun Yat-sen paid homage to his ancestors after he resigned from the interim president in 1912, was destroyed by a heavy rain before strong typhoon Hato battered the city in 2017. However, the renovation fund was far from enough for a long time.
Presently, renovation of the Sun's Ancestral Hall has been approved by the Zhongshan Development and Reform Bureau, with an investment of over 4 million yuan from the Nanlang Town Government. The project covers the tile roof, walls, doors and windows, ground surface and other parts.
The Sun's Ancestral Hall in Zuobu Village, built in Chenghua Period of the Ming Dynasty, covers an area of about 1,000 square meters. The existing building is a post-Qing Dynasty style architecture.
Currently, the Sun's Ancestral Hall is an internal control protected historic site of Zuobu Village (similar to the Provisional Protected Historic Site).
