The first Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Culture and Arts Festival is about to kick off. During the Festival, Zhongshan will host three major events to showcase the unique charm of local culture and arts.
The "Greater Bay Area Stage" featuring Cantonese opera will be presented at the grand theater of Zhongshan Culture & Art Center on the evening of the coming Sunday (June 23). Renowned Cantonese opera performers and rising stars, as well as representative Cantonese opera art troupes from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao including Guangdong Cantonese Opera Troupe First Team, Shenzhen Cantonese Opera Troupe, Macao Cantonese Opera Troupe, Guangzhou Cantonese Opera Group and Xiangshan Cantonese Opera Troupe will gather in Zhongshan. They will perform traditional and classic operas such as "Lau Kam-ting's Clash at the Gate", "Love in Bloom" and "Zhou Yu and Xiao Qiao" among others.
What will come next is the "Beauty of Intangible Cultural Heritage" Zhongshan Intangible Cultural Heritage Show. On the evening of July 6, intangible cultural heritage projects such as West District Drunken Dragon, Sanjiao Kylin Dance, Shachong Ma's Spear and Sanxiang Puppet Show, along with classic folk songs and music will all make a stage pose at the Zhongshan Culture & Art Center square.
As a finale, the "Build Dreams in the Greater Bay Area" Concert - A Tribute to the Classics will be staged at the grand theater of Zhongshan Culture & Art Center on July 7. Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra will join hands with cappella band RESOUND, the Pui Ching Middle School choir, Zhongshan Children's Chorus and others to present a concert, where classic songs such as recomposed salty water songs in the form of symphony chorus, "Rising Higher Step by Step", "Ode to Red Flag" and "The Arch Moon" among others will be presented.
In order to enable more citizens to appreciate art classics, the Greater Bay Area Stage will give away free tickets to lucky citizens during the art festival. The "Beauty of Intangible Cultural Heritage" show will be open to the public for free. Lastly, the Concert in A Tribute to the Classics will also sell low price tickets to allow more of the public access.
