According to data released by Zhongshan Investigation Team of the National Bureau of Statistics, Zhongshan's food price witnessed a year-on-year growth of 8.2% in May.
In order to alleviate the pressure from the rising prices on residents with special difficulties, Zhongshan Development and Reform Bureau, Zhongshan Civil Affairs Bureau, Zhongshan Finance Bureau, Zhongshan Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and Zhongshan Veterans Affairs Bureau jointly announced on June 24 through a statement that the linkage mechanism between temporary price subsidies and security payments and price increases has been activated for low-income groups. Temporary price subsidies will be provided to qualified residents with special difficulties.
The subsidies cover low-guarantee residents, low-income population, extremely poor people, people receiving regular national pension, and people receiving unemployment insurance payments. Over 25,000 people are eligible for the subsidies.
The subsidy standard is 41 yuan per person, and the total subsidies will amount to 1,034,061 yuan.
