'Zhongshan Pandas' embark on a baseball trip in Japan

The 15-man Zhongshan Pandas Junior Baseball Team set off for Miyazaki, Japan a few days ago to participate in the 2019 PONY Bronco-12U Asia-Pacific Zone Tournament.

The competition kicked off on July 1 at the Konohana Dome, with 10 Asian-Pacific teams from Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia competing for the 12U champion title. Zhongshan Pandas Junior Baseball Team was in the same group with the teams from Japan, South Korea, Australia and Hong Kong, China.

Zhongshan Pandas Junior Baseball Team, with an average age of 11, would participate in the competition as the champion of the China division. After the 5-day games, the team members would also take part in a variety of exchange activities featuring baseball.

PONY Baseball League was one of the largest youth baseball and softball leagues in the world, with a history of more than 66 years. Over 500,000 young people from more than 50 countries and regions participated in PONY competitions every year.

Zhongshan Pandas Junior Baseball Team was established in 2011. It sets its training base in the Zhongshan Pandas Junior Baseball Field in Dongsheng Town, also known as the "Zhongshan International Baseball Town".
