Zhongshan's air quality ranks 3rd nationwide in June

The Ministry of Ecology and Environment recently announced the national air quality report for June and the first half of 2019. Among the 168 key cities in China, Zhongshan ranked 3rd in air quality in June.

Based on the statistics gathered in the first half, Zhongshan ranked 10th nationwide, up one place from a year earlier. The city also ranked among the top 20 nationwide in terms of air quality improvement.

As reported from the Zhongshan Environmental Protection Bureau, by June 30, air quality in Zhongshan had reached defined standards on 172 days of 2019. The city boasted a qualified rate of 95.0%, 3.3 percentage points higher than the same period last year. Zhongshan's air quality ranked 4th within the Pearl River Delta regions and 12th across Guangdong. 

The average concentrations of PM10, PM2.5 and NO2 were 37, 25 and 29 µg/m³, respectively. PM10 and PM2.5 decreased by 11.9% and 13.8% respectively compared with the same period last year. NO2 measurements were the same as those measured last year. The 90th percentile of daily maximum 8-hour average ozone concentration was 114 µg/m³, down 16.2% from a year earlier.

The Ambient Environment Comprehensive Index was 3.07, down by 9.2% from the same period last year.
