Two Guangdong provincial training bases and two master workshops, all for Cantonese cuisine chefs, were unveiled on July 17. Their aim is to foster the talents of Cantonese cuisine chefs, create more Zhongshan inspired delicacies, and contribute to rural revitalization.
Zhongshan Sanxiang Polytechnic School and Zhongshan Technician College are the designated Guangdong provincial training bases for Cantonese cuisine chefs. The MGF Workshop in Harbor City and the Zheng Yaorong Workshop in Sanxi Restaurant are the designated Guangdong provincial master workshops for checfs of Cantonese cuisine. According to the rules, each training base shall be granted 2 million yuan, and each master workshop 0.3 million yuan as a one-time subsidy.
The joint conference of the "Cantonese Cuisine Chef" program was held after the inaugural ceremony. It is known that since 2018, Zhongshan has been persistently advancing the "Cantonese Cuisine Chef" program and cultivated over 600 Cantonese cuisine Chefs since April, 2018. Additionally, Zhongshan has reviewed and approved two municipal-level master workshops for Cantonese cuisine chefs. Each workshop has been granted a subsidy of 0.1 million yuan.
Zhongshan also plans to organize two contests for these chefs. One will be for Chinese cuisine chefs and the other will be for Chinese pastry chefs. The goal is to promote productive interactions with respect to cooking skills and expanding productivity in the second half of 2019. Furthermore, Zhongshan has commissioned business associations in Zhongshan's food and beverage industry to carry out professional ability development. This program now includes eight dishes such as Shiqi Squab, and eight desserts such as Zhongshan Jinzha (steamed dumpling).
Early in 2011, Zhongshan earned the title of "Famous City for Cantonese Cuisine in China".
