By simply scanning the QR code using WeChat on mobile phones, buyers can be informed that pork, for instance is from Shaxi Town. On July 29, Zhongshan Daily followed the staff of the Zhongshan Bureau of Commerce to experience the meat and vegetables QR code traceability system at Carrefour in Sino-Ocean Dasin Metro-Mall.
Zhongshan started installing the meat and vegetables traceability system since late 2013. In 2017, Zhongshan finished installing the first batch of 153 traceability network nodes, using electronic scales to trace the origin of meat and vegetables.
In early 2018, Zhongshan upgraded the Zhuyuan Market and other three into new standardized intelligent markets. At the same time, the installation of the second batch of 454 traceability network nodes was launched, and was completed in the first half of 2019. This batch of traceability network nodes mainly uses QR codes for tracing.
As of now, more than 600 traceability network nodes have been installed in Zhongshan, covering almost all the farmers' markets, supermarkets and stores registered with the market authority.
