A total 350 children from Zhongshan, Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and other cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) started their 7-day, 6-night summer "army life" at the Zhongshan Junior Military Academy located in the Zhongshan Affiliated High School of South China Normal University on July 29.

According to the Zhongshan Youth Palace, the program include courses in patriotic education, team knowledge, military training, safety education, and experience education. It aims at comprehensively enhancing  children's understanding of GBA, and allowing them appreciate the urban and innovative culture and customs of GBA and strengthening friendly exchanges among teenagers from different cities.

In addition to traditional training such as team queues and military discipline, training on self-care, self-help knowledge on earthquake prevention and disaster reduction, CS gun battle live-fire simulation and other activities will be conducted.

The "little soldiers" will also watch close range performances at the Zhongshan Police Dog Training Base. They will equally visit the Former Residence of Dr Sun Yat-sen, the Zhuhai Military Exhibition Center and Aviation Base, and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

The Zhongshan Junior Military Academy was first organized in 1993 and for the past 26 years, it has attracted about 10,000 children from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. In recent years, the Zhongshan Junior Military Academy summer camp has also been organized in Jinggangshan, Nanchang and Hangzhou.
