The 18th World Police and Fire Games (WPFG2019) kicked off on August 8 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. As of August 12, police officers from Zhongshan have won a total of 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 3 fourth places,
Zhongshan sent 5 athletes to attend the WPFG2019. After days of competition, Shen Miao, from the Huangpu Public Security Bureau, not only won the championship in 400m Freestyle (35+ Group) and 800m Freestyle (35+ Group), but also won the runner-up in Men's 4x50 Freestyle (30+ Group) together with his team members.
Wei Jiayue, a technical reconnaissance police officer, won the championship in 50m Backstroke (40+ Group), the 100m Backstroke (40+ Group), and the fourth place in Mixed 4x50m Freestyle Relay.
Wang Dong, a policeman of the Sanjiao Public Security Bureau, as the Captain of the Chinese Hockey Delegation, win the second place in the hockey team competition with his teammates and scored 5 goals in 4 matches.
Sun Zhongdong, a policeman from the Shaxi Public Security Bureau, won the fourth place in Men's Table Tennis Doubles.
Lyu Lei, a special policeman, competed for the Toughest Competitor Alive and won the fourth place together with police officers from other provinces and cities.
WPFG was launched in 1985, and it has been held every two years. Tens of thousands of athletes from 80 countries and regions gathered in Chengdu to compete in 56 events this time around.
