The Zhongshan Traffic Police Group announced on August 19 that from August on, Zhongshan will begin to implement electronic auto insurance application, underwriting and claims. Drivers who have already applied for an electronic auto insurance policy may not have to present a paper insurance policy when accepting the inspection by the traffic police on duty or handling traffic accident claims.

Electronic policy refers to an electronic document issued by an insurance company in the form of a data message that certifies an auto insurance contract relationship. Relevant electronic documents currently include the electronic application form for auto insurance, auto insurance policy, approval for auto insurance and compulsory auto liability insurance sign in PDF format files.

The auto insurance electronic policy implementation comes along with 41 property insurance companies in Guangdong, covering motor vehicles such as passenger vehicles, sedans, trucks and special vehicles in Guangdong that are insured by compulsory auto liability insurance and commercial insurance. The implementation of the electronic insurance policies for motorcycles, tractors, one-way vehicle delivery and cross-boundary Hong Kong and Macao vehicles are temporarily postponed.

After the implementation of the electronic policy, car owners can easily complete their insurance application via a smart phone. Meanwhile, car owners can inquire and download the electronic insurance policies and signs, as well as request policy verification by a third-party on the insurance company's official website, instead of visiting the insurance company in person.
