The Zhuhai Public Resources Trading Center on August 20 published the tender announcement for the "Preliminary Research on the Project Scheme of Guangzhou Metro Line 18 Extending from Zhongshan to Zhuhai" on its official website.

The tender will carry out the preliminary research on the project scheme. The goal is to produce a final form for the general research report of the "Project Scheme of Guangzhou Metro Line 18 Extending from Zhongshan to Zhuhai". This special research report will include the line station, the environmental sensitive points, the special research report of passenger flow prediction, the research report of the cross-border line investment, and financing and the construction operation management mode.

According to the announcement, Guangzhou Metro Line 18 will directly pass through and serve Guangzhou, Zhongshan, and Zhuhai. The Zhongshan-Zhuhai section has a total length of about 60 kilometers, with an estimated investment of 20 billion yuan.

On August 19, Zhongshan officially announced the "Promotional Plan for Qijiang New Town of Zhongshan." This exciting plan focuses on introducing the stations of Guangzhou Metro Line 18. Four track lines are planned to be built in the area, with Guangzhou Line 18 connected to the Zhongshan Station.

Construction of the Guangzhou Metro Line 18 began on October 28, 2017. According to previous plans, Line 18 will open to traffic in 2020.
