​Zhongshan's CPI rises 1.0% month-on-month in July

Based on the data provided by the Zhongshan Investigation Team of the National Bureau of Statistics, the consumer price index (CPI) in Zhongshan rose by 1.0% month-on-month in July 2019.

Food, tobacco and alcohol prices increased by 1.8%, while the prices of non-food, non-tobacco and non-alcohol increased by 0.6%. Consumer prices rose by 0.8% and service prices by 1.3%.

Four out of the eight categories of goods and services rose, three fell and one leveled off. The prices for education, culture and recreation among others, rose by 3.9%, the prices for other goods and services by 0.8% and the prices for transport and communications by 0.1%, with the prices for the residential category remaining flat.

Food prices rose by 2.2% in July, driven mainly by higher pork prices. The prices for fresh water fish, fresh vegetables and eggs rose, while those for shrimp, crab and fresh fruits dropped.
