Walking into Longping Community and Longchang Community in West District, one will see many new houses under construction beside the roads and rivers.
"West District is now promoting the renovation of dangerous houses. Longping Community has 74 type-D dangerous houses alone. In extreme weather such as rainstorm and typhoon, community leaders have to evacuate people from these houses," said Wu Yanbin, member of the Longping Community Party Committee.
West District launched the dilapidated house renovation project in 2015. Now, more than 40 houses have been demolished and reconstructed in Longping Community, and the remaining 30 will be renovated in the second half of this year.
In 2018, West District established a leading group to investigate type-D dangerous houses in Longping, Longchang and Shalang communities in a bid to realize residents' "housing dream".
According to the dilapidated house renovation project in West District, if the house is the only self-owned house of the family with no other houses to live in, the subsidy standard shall be 1,000 yuan per square meter; if the renovation area is larger than 60 square meters, the owner can get a subsidy of 60,000 yuan; and if it is less than 60 square meters, the subsidy shall be calculated according to the actual renovation area.
West District is currently mapping out the type-C dangerous buildings within its jurisdiction, and will introduce corresponding subsidy policies after all the type-D dangerous houses have been renovated, said a staff representative of the West District Housing and Urban-rural Development Bureau.
