Zhongshan Public Transportation Group announced on August 28 that, following the utilization of Alipay's QR code payment, Tencent's Ride Code will now be accepted for passengers on Zhongshan buses. From now on, passengers may use WeChat to scan and pay for their fares on most Zhongshan buses.
At present, all BRT stations and self-service bus routes have been upgraded and now offer this convenience.
Using WeChat to scan and pay for your bus fare is easy and straightforward. Simply enter the WeChat app and search for the "Ride Code" applet. Then, locate "Zhongshan" and follow the prompts to get an electronic "Zhongshan Tong" passenger card. Next, complete registration prompts, and select "change" or "bank card" as your payment method. When using the app to pay your fare, click the WeChat "Ride Code" applet to generate a ride code. Then, have the code scanned by the bus code scanner.
Passengers who use WeChat to scan and pay for their bus fares can also enjoy the same 50% discount as those who use their physical Zhongshan Tong.
