A total of 14 citizens in Dongfeng Town took office as a "volunteer road chief" on the afternoon of September 2 after an inaugural ceremony.

Volunteer road chief's main duties include assistance in road patrol, supervision and report, contact and communication, as well as guidance and publicity. In the future, these 14 volunteer road chiefs will be responsible for 14 key roads in Dongfeng.

Last year, the Dongfeng government launched a key roads governance campaign and adopted the innovative "Road Chief Responsibility System". In June 2019, "Road Chief Responsibility System" took effect, according to which 14 road chiefs will be respectively assigned to manage 14 key roads including Fengxiang Avenue and Xinghua Road Middle.

In order to give full play to the leading role of volunteers and constantly enhance the enthusiasm of the public to participate in urban management, Dongfeng Town innovatively combined urban management with volunteer service and started the volunteer road chief activity from September.
