Guangzhou Communications Investment Group Co Ltd recently published the environment impact assessment report of the Nansha-Zhongshan Expressway on its official website. The total investment of the project is estimated to be 21 billion yuan. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2020 and is expected to complete in 2024.

According to the report, the project is situated between the south Nansha District of Guangzhou and the east Zhongshan City. It includes the main line of the Nansha-Zhongshan Expressway and the Wanqingsha branch lines, passing through Nansha District of Guangzhou as well as Minzhong Town and Gangkou Town of Zhongshan.

The main line is about 32.398km long, with a total of 32,298m/50 bridges. Bridges account for 99.7% of the total length of the project.

Upon the completion of the project, a fast channel will be built in the western part of the Nansha Free Trade Area to connect Zhongshan, Jiangmen and other Western Guangdong areas, so as to facilitate the distribution of personnel and materials.

The report also indicates that the Nansha-Zhongshan Expressway project is an extension of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge, which will be conducive for the formation of a cross-regional road network between Nansha region and the surrounding cities of Zhongshan.
