The Exposure Draft of the Environmental Impact Assessment for the Shenzhen-Jiangmen Section of the Shenzhen-Maoming Railway that is now publicized has disclosed some of its planning details, according to the Zhongshan Transportation Bureau.
According to the exposure draft, the main line for the Shenzhen-Jiangmen section of the Shenzhen-Maoming Railway will start from Xili Station in Shenzhen and terminate at Jiangmen Station, which is now under construction. The railway will go through Shenzhen, Dongguan, Guangzhou, Zhongshan and Jiangmen cities. It will be constructed in accordance with high-speed railway standards. The designed target speed is 200km/h for the Xili-Nansha section and the Shenzhen North-Shenzhen Airport connecting lines of the main line. A designed target speed of 250km/h had been set for the Nansha-Jiangmen section of the main line.
Seven stations will be set along the route, namely Xili, Shenzhen Airport, Binhai Bay, Nansha, Zhongshan North, Henglan and Jiangmen. The whole construction is planned to take 5.5 years' time.
Information gathered from the exposure draft shows that Xili and Shenzhen Airport stations will be built underground, Binhai Bay, Nansha, Henglan and Zhongshan North stations will be elevated stations, and Jiangmen Station will be on ground. This means that two new elevated stations, Zhongshan North Station and Henglan Station, will be built in Zhongshan. The Zhongshan North Station of Shenzhen-Maoming railway will be located on the north side of the current Zhongshan North Station of the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Railway. It will have 2 platforms and 4 lines.
Connecting lines between Zhongshan Station of Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Railway and Shenzhen-Maoming Railway (Shenzhen direction) will also be built up, with 10.6 kilometers in length of single line. Some insiders speculate that in the future Zhuhai passengers will be able to get to Shenzhen by Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Railway and Shenzhen-Maoming Railway through the connecting lines.
It is reported that site selection for the Zhongshan section of the Shenzhen-Maoming railway has been completed. Special activities such as pre-examination of land use, risk assessment of social stability, and land requisition, demolition and relocation verification are in progress.
