Updated: 2019-09-24    Source: Zhongshan Daily Large Medium Small Print

September 22 marks the 62nd International Day of the Deaf. In order to make hearing-impaired persons have more contact with the public and get close to the natural scenery, the orienteering activity "Make the Silent World More Splendid" was organized at Zimaling Park on September 21 morning.

A total of 50 hearing-impaired persons participated in this event in partnership with a number of volunteers. The Zhongshan disability policy publicity activity was equally carried out at this event.

Ms Zhou, a person with hearing disability, said that she met many "companions" with a similar experience in the course of the game. She equally "found an organization and had a good communication."

Zhongshan has developed a relatively sound auxiliary equipment subsidy policy for persons with hearing disabilities. The maximum subsidy for the self-paid part of cochlear implants and hearing aids for persons with hearing disabilities aged 0-17 stands at 80,000 yuan per ear and 12,000 yuan per ear respectively; hearing-impaired children aged 0-6 are allowed to get the subsidy only once every three years, whereas those aged 7-17 is once every five years.

The maximum allowance for self-paid hearing aids for adults is 6,000 yuan per ear, and is limited to once every 8 years.
