Chen Xudong, Secretary of the Zhongshan Municipal Party Committee, on September 24 met with Wang Chuanfu, chairman and president of BYD Co Ltd. Both sides spoke at length about the measures needed to accelerate cooperative construction projects and reach a deeper level of cooperation with a wider scope in various other fields.

Headquartered in Shenzhen, BYD is a high-tech enterprise focusing on four industries: IT, automobile, new energy and rail transit. Since 2015, BYD has been the champion in the global sales of new energy vehicles for each consecutive year. BYD products are marketed in over 270 cities in more than 50 countries.

In August 2017, the Zhongshan People's Government signed an agreement with BYD to jointly build a manufacturing base for smart terminals and parts, rail transit equipment as well as prefabricated parts. The project is expected to have a combined output value of 25 billion yuan and a tax revenue of more than 600 million yuan.

Chen Xudong indicated that Zhongshan should develop closer cooperation with Shenzhen in transportation, innovation, industry and other aspects. Chen went on to say that Zhongshan should strive to build itself into a supporting zone for the integration and development of the eastern and western sides of the Pearl River, a hub city in the coastal economic belt, and an important anchor in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Chen Xudong also pointed out that BYD is an open, dynamic, and growing global company, and there are broad prospects for a win-win situation between Zhongshan and BYD.

Wang Chuanfu said, BYD will bring good ideas, products, technologies, and application models to Zhongshan, explore overall solutions for green travel, smooth transportation, and help establish Zhongshan as a modern city that is more livable, business-friendly and tourist-friendly.
