Raising the national flag every day is a habit that Wu has developed since when he was a young man working as the driver of a cargo ship, and has become an integral part of his life for decades.
To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, in August this year, Wu Huisen upgraded his flag-raising platform and replaced the original bamboo pole with a stainless steel one, which can now proudly show the flag from a height of six meters.
"For now I'm the flag raiser, but I want my grandson to be a flag raiser in the future. This ceremony will continue as a tradition in my family," said Wu Huisen.
