Speaking about the changes of the three public toilets near the community in the past 25 years, Zheng Yueai, who lives in Shuixian Tower in Boyuan New Village, East District, gave a thumbs up and said, "Public toilets are becoming more modern and humane."

In June of this year, the Boyuan Public Toilet underwent a small transformation. A "unisex room" was added, with a squat toilet, baby care desk, wheelchair ramp and other convenient facilities. Zheng Yueai was impressed by the addition of a large number of signboards at the Boyuan Public Toilet.

In addition, within 500 meters of her community, two other public toilets, named Xingzhong Park and Huabo, were also included in the list of public toilets for reconstruction. These reconstruction projects have recently been completed.

"The three public toilets near my home are much cleaner and prettier. They offer more convenience for everyone. This is also a small feature of Zhongshan's continuous development," said Zheng Yueai.

In recent years, Zhongshan has actively promoted the "New Three-Year Action Plan for Urban Toilet Revolution (2018-2020)". This plan was created to enhance the "micro-quality" of Zhongshan.

According to the plan, Zhongshan aims to complete the construction, reconstruction, and opening of 109 toilets within 3 years.

At the same time, a number of internal toilets of party and government organizations, enterprises, public institutions, restaurants, supermarkets, gas stations, commercial service windows, hotels, and etc, will gradually be open to the public, which will only add to the total number of urban public toilets.

In addition, by the end of 2020, Zhongshan will continue to upgrade 9 environmental protection public toilets, which are mainly located in crowded areas such as public transport stations, parks and squares.
