Most of the aging population in Zhongshan is still vigorous. They are active in their daily lives and their communities, and they voluntarily provide colorful services.

Data of Zhongshan Volunteer Federation's "Zhongshan Volunteers" platform shows that there are currently 2,332 registered volunteers over 60 in the city. There are also many unregistered elderly volunteers who continue to serve the public anonymously.

The 72-year-old Zhu Zhenmei, who lives in Fuchong Village in South District, is not only the leader of the Tri-Colour Elderly Volunteer Team of the Zhiyuan Social Work Service Center, but she is also a reliable "village liaison" for social workers during their visits.

Zhu Zhenmei recalled that she joined the volunteer team in May of 2013. "With the help of social workers, I formed the Fuchong Elderly Dance Team and joined the volunteer team at that time," she said.

Bei Rongman, a social worker at the Zhiyuan Social Work Service Center, praised Zhu Zhenmei for her work. "Ms Zhu was  one of our clients at the beginning, but she was always enthusiastic about community activities. Now, with her efforts and our guidance, she has become a recognized force for many of our social work partners."
