The Zhongshan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Zhongshan Social Science Association jointly organzied a symposium on "Overseas Chinese and New China" on October 11, at which representatives of Hong Kong, Macao, overseas Zhongshan people and overseas Chinese were invited to give their thoughts about the military parade on the 70th anniversary of the National Day.

Hu Zhirong, a national council member of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and president of International Youth Leadership Conference, vividly described the wonderful scene of the military parade. He and his mother Huang Chaiyi participated in the military parade for the third time. This experience gave him memories worth cherishing. "When we saw the valiant and heroic soldiers and the new weapons and equipment one by one, my mother and I were very proud of our increasingly strong country."

Xiao Xiaoquan, Honorary Chairman of the Zhongshan Society of Peru, who had participated in the military parade several times, said that the ceremony fully demonstrated China's strength in national defense military, scientific and technological innovation and cultural heritage, which made all Chinese people proud.

Huang Jialun, Chairman of the Macao Youth Association of Patriotic Education, watched the ceremony for the first time. He said that 2019 marked the 20th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland. When he saw the "one country, two systems" square, his patriotic feelings arose spontaneously.

Speaking of Zhongshan's development, Yu Jiashun, a senior researcher at the Royal Society of New Zealand and chairman of the New Zealand Chinese Scientists Association, also a native of Zhongshan, said he left his hometown for education when he was young. Since the 1990s, he returned to China to participate in scientific research projects. He was very impressed to see the rapid development of his hometown in terms of economy, society, culture and technology.
