On the evening of October 14, Peruvian time, a splendid Chinese cultural and artistic feast was held in Lima, capital of Peru, to mark the 170th anniversary of the arrival of the first batch of Chinese. 

More than 800 people from the Peruvian government, business, cultural and social circles, including representatives from Chinese-funded institutions, students studying abroad and overseas Chinese attended the gala and enjoyed the performances presented by the Zhongshan Zhongshi Cultural Communication Co Ltd.

In 1849, the first batch of 75 Chinese workers arrived at the port of Callao, Peru. This was the first batch of Chinese on record that came to Peru. 

2019 marks the 170th anniversary of the arrival of the first batch of Chinese in Peru. To commemorate this important day, a series of celebrations were held in Lima.
