A ceremony to commemorate the 153rd anniversary of Sun Yat-sen's birth was held on the morning of November 12 at the Museum of Dr Sun Yat-sen.

Approximately 200 people attended the ceremony, including leaders of the municipal Party committee, municipal people's congress, municipal government and municipal committee of CPPCC, relatives of Sun Yat-sen, representatives of democratic parties, associations of industry and Commerce and non-party personages, principals of relevant departments and mass organizations, representatives of relevant institutions such as Sun Yat-sen Research Society, representatives from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, overseas Chinese and returned overseas Chinese representatives, as well as representatives of cadres, common people, teachers and students.

The solemn occasion saw the attendees stand up and bow three times to the portrayal of Sun Yat-sen.

Subsequently, representatives of 43 units and organizations, including the Zhongshan Municipal Committee of the CPC, the Standing Committee of the Zhongshan Municipal People's Congress, the Zhongshan Municipal People's Government, the Zhongshan Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Sun Yat-sen's relatives, presented flower baskets to the portrayal of Sun Yat-sen.

On the same day, the opening ceremony of the Sun Yat-sen Numismatic Culture Exhibition planned by the Museum of Dr Sun Yat-sen and Hangzhou Sun Yat-sen Numismatic Museum was held at the Museum of Dr Sun Yat-sen. The exhibition displays nearly 400 pieces of money, bonds and coins printed with Sun Yat-sen's portrait. These numismatic items were issued by Sun Yat-sen and revolutionary comrades. They depict Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary career and the ups and downs of modern Chinese history from another perspective.
