Zhongshan's CPI rises 1.0% in October

The Zhongshan Survey Team of the National Bureau of Statistics released data that, compared with September, Zhongshan's consumer price index (CPI) rose 1.0% in October.

Compared with the previous month, price for fresh fruits and melons dropped 6.3% in October. This was mainly due to the harvest season for pears and apples in the market, prices for wchich continued to fall.

In October, the price of fresh vegetables decreased by 5.2%, because the weather was more suitable for the growth of vegetables, therefore the supply increased.

Pork price continued to rise by 21.1%, beef 2.3%, and chicken 1.3%. Meanwhile, duck price dropped by 6.9%, pigeons and other poultry meat and products 0.4%, and eggs 2.3%.

Prices of aquatic products fell. This was especially due to an increase of the market volume of largemouth bass, giant freshwater prawn and Shanghai hairy crab, where prices fell remarkably.

Compared with the same period last year, Zhongshan's CPI rose 4.9% in October. From January to October of this year, Zhongshan's CPI increased by 2.6%.
