The 2019 Guangdong Province Food Safety Demonstration Emergency Drill was held on December 10 at the Zhongshan Expo Center.

This exercise is based on an actual case in Zhongshan, and takes a poisoning incident of wild mushrooms collected and eaten by a family as its starting point. A drama was performed to show the main links of the story, including occurrence, development, emergency response, and rehabilitative measures. 

The drill simulates a major food safety accident. According to the drill plan and the different stages of a food safety accident, the drill is carried out in four sections, which are incident occurrence and reporting, initiation of Level III response, emergency disposal and accident investigation, and emergency termination.

The exercise was jointly sponsored by the Guangdong Provincial Food Safety Committee Office, the Department of Food Safety of the Municipal Affairs Bureau of Macao, and the Zhongshan Municipal Food Safety Committee Office.
