Zhongshan in early winter is still enjoying the warmth of the sun. In the early morning at the Xingzhong Stadium track and field, among the large number of active runners, a slender figure was especially conspicuous. With standard warm-up movements, fast running pace, firm eyes staring forward, and numerous round trips to and from the runway without any tiredness, he is Lin Junhong, Zhongshan's new "Flying Man".
In recent years, there have been a large number of talented sprinters in Zhongshan. After Su Bingtian, who ran 100 meters in less than 10 seconds, Lin Junhong from Dachong Town has also begun to showcase his talent in the domestic track and field circle and successively won the championship at home and abroad.
With a perfect performance in the 200 meter relay race at the Yokohama Relay World Championship this May, Lin and other national sprinters such as Mo Youxue, broke the Asian record held by the Japanese team and set a new one of 1 minute 21.70 seconds. He won the invitation letter for the selection training camp of the Chinese team for the Tokyo Olympics. The title "New Flying Man in Zhongshan" started to earn him fame.
Asian people are not really good at sprinting. The sudden appearance of two excellent sprinters in a prefecture-level city has excited the track and field community to a great extent. Since then, many coaches have come to Zhongshan, especially to explore more sprint talent in this city.
In November this year, after Lin Junhong won both the men's 100m and 200m track and field titles at the 2019 Hubei University Games, more and more people began to compare Lin Junhong with his fellow Su Bingtian. Many people think that Lin Junhong, who is taller and was more accomplished at an earlier age, seems to have the potential to go even further.
Lin Junhong, however, clearly realized the gap between himself and his idol Su Bingtian. "I still need to consistently finish the 100m result within 10.50 seconds." Lin Junhong said that sprinting is a step-by-step process and can not be achieved overnight. On his way to the Olympics, he has just started.
The problems of starting, accelerating, and maintaining speed will still be obstacles on the way to the Olympics. Lin will keep running without any hesitation.
