The celebration of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Secondary School (ZSOCSS) and the 40th anniversary of restoring its original name was organized on December 15 morning in the junior section of the School. New and old alumni returned to their former school to participate in this celebration.

Zhu Xiyuan, an outstanding alumnus who graduated from the School in 1985 and current vice chairman of the school board, also chairman of Zhongshan Xinbao Precision Technology Co Ltd, donated 1 million yuan in 2012 to set up the Zhu Xiyuan Head Teachers Development Fund. This year, he donated another 1.2 million yuan to the fund.

In addition, 15 awards and scholarship funds, including the Zhongshan High School Education and Teaching Quality Evaluation Awards, the Choi Koon-shum College Entrance Examination Scholarship, the Choi Koon-shum International Exchange Foundation and Scholarship, the So Kai-tao College Entrance Examination Scholarship, and the Education Foundation, were awarded and donated.

Dr Choi Koon-shum, chairman of the school board, and So Kai-tao, executive vice chairman of the school board and president of the Education Foundation, awarded 10,000 yuan to each outstanding student admitted into Peking and Tsinghua Universities, respectively.

At the same time, the International Exchange Foundation donated by Choi Koon-shum not only supports school teachers to go out to visit and study, but also rewards students admitted into the world's top 20 foreign universities with 100,000 yuan each.

ZSOCSS principal Gao Yi said that the School aims to set up a nationally first-rate, internationally renowned overseas Chinese secondary school. ZSOCSS now has been acknowledged as one of the first provincial first-class schools and the first national model ordinary high schools in Guangdong Province. Over the past dozen years, a total of 45 ZSOCSS students have been admitted into Peking and Tsinghua Universities, and some 54 have been admitted into world famous universities such as Harvard, Cambridge and Oxford.
